Purpose
We conduct broad research on the Shikoku Henro Pilgrimage along with whatever specialized research is required for nomination as a World Heritage Site.
- From an international and historical perspective, we will prove the significant universal value of The Shikoku Henro as an outstanding example of a living cultural asset due to the pilgrimages that people continue to make even to this day.
- Through comparative studies on similar domestic and international sites that have already achieved World Heritage status or are candidates for the list, we will provide concrete evidence of the representative and outstanding characteristics of the pilgrimage property.
